Thanksgiving is over
Well Thanksgiving day is over. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and filled up on some yummy food and spent time with family and friends. I myself had a wonderful weekend. My oldest son who is in the U.S. Navy came up to visit me. I haven't seen him since last May. He leaves tomorrow and hopefully I will see him again soon.
The picture of the adorable turkey is my niece Sarah. My sister dressed her up and took pictures. Sarah is her first baby so of course we are blessed with LOTS of adorable pictures of that beautiful girl.
Not much more to update, I am almost finished with my tavern sign, hubby is finishing up some stacking chests for me and a stove top cover. ( he loves me so much!!!) I am working on a gift for a Christmas exchange. I am loving it, it is such a great challenge. My partner decorates her home in vintage, so I researched a LOT for this gift and finally ran across something PERFECT to create. I always love to be challenged when it comes to my crafting, if I'm not I will tend to make everything look the same, so this has been the perfect challenge for me.
OH...I almost forgot, hubby and I have been working on our kitchen re-do.. Oh what a mess. I have (well hubby has not me) stripped down our cabinets to bare wood. (if you don't have a heat gun... I recommend getting one for jobs like this works GREAT!!) The cabinets are being painted a really dark gray/blue. I am distressing them, then staining. The walls are painted a butter milk. We'll replace the ugly linoleum with a nice 24" tiles in a cream color. I'll be sure to post pics when finished.
Well that is it for now. I'll be back soon to update...

Portrait painting
Well here is one of my portraits I have painted.(excuse the bad pic I'll have hubby take a better one later) I have this hanging over my fire place. I have 4 more in line to be painted. I just have to make the time. I am going to paint an olde skipper ship as well. Right now I am in the middle of painting an olde tavern sign. One I have been wanting to paint for about 2 years now.
Please note these are not my own original patterns. I browse the internet and research books and paint items I like I do this with furniture too. Poor hubby... he has a list this weekend... I have already advised him he is making me a side table for my couch and a set of stacking trunks... I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as each of my projects are finished...
Well I am going to go for now. I'll be back soon. I am working feverishly to finish my tavern sign

Had a wonderful Halloween Night
Last night was wonderful. Our family went to a family member's home for a Halloween party. We all dress up. Ate snacks and drank some adult beverages (root beer for the children of course)
There was a costume contest and my husband won by a land slide. Which he should have he spent 2 weeks researching how to dress up like a zombie. I am so happy the night is over and my husband is back with us here on earth and not researching that zombie stuff. LOL
On our way to the party we stopped at a cemetery and took a few pictures. Don't worry, we made sure there wasn't anyone there visiting family. I would feel horrible if there was.
I am back on track crafting today. We are working on a tavern sign. I have it cut out and base coated it black. After it dries I will sketch the drawing on then start the painting. This will probably take me about a week to get it finished. I am still sewing samplers for a local store so I can only paint between stitching.
I don't know why I do this. I always have 4 or more things going at once. It's almost like I have ADD. LOL Do any of the other crafters have so many irons in the fire?

Oops.. it's been too long...
My goodness the holidays haven't even begun and I am getting busy. It is so amazing how a little 3 year old can make your life so much busier. Once your children become teens they seem to be so independent and require very little of you, well except money. They seem to need more money the older they get!!
Well hubby has a new hobby. He is casting metal. Aluminum to be precise. He is wanting badly to make something that can be incorporated into my primitive decorating. If anyone has any ideas, please send them this way. I just can not figure out anything for him to make. Pictures would be awesome too!!
Well I will update again after Halloween with pictures of the fam... don't worry I haven't forgotten about pictures of my samplers. I have been going to the GW and purchasing frames to put samplers in so I will have quite a few to share.
Until next time. Primitive blessing to you...

Pumpkin Patch
This weekend the family went to the pumpkin patch in Arcadia. We have had this field trip planned for 2 weeks. Shad and I kept telling our youngest Christopher that we were going to a pumpkin patch and on a hay ride since we planned the trip. I was a little worried because he didn't seem to excited. What am I saying? He could give a rats behind about it. LOL
Sunday morning we all got ready and packed everyone up in the car for the ride. We went with another family so off we went. As we drove past the pumpkin patch, Shad slowed down as I yelled "LOOK pumpkins"!! Well that was all it took, Christopher started talking 89 words a minute and his arms were all over the place. (He can't talk without his arms like his dad)
We parked the car and he was unbuckled and jumping out of the car before we could realize what he was doing. Well needless to say my little sweetie LOVED the pumpkin patch as well as my teen who won't admit it if you paid him. (teens *rolls eyes)
We got plenty of pictures to scrap book, so one of these weekends I will hide in my craft room and scrap my little heart away.. I can't wait.
This farm has some of the best apple cider I have ever had. I believe they press over 7 types of apples for their cider. Shad left our name and number to pick up the cider as it starts to ferment. He will be making hard cider from it.
I have also worked on some samplers this weekend. I'll post them soon.

Prim Fall Table settings
Well today I worked on my prim fall table. You will have to excuse the pictures, I used my cell phone. The plates are actually wood chargers that I have painted. I went to Hobby Lobby Friday and purchased their plain wood plates and painted them black, sanded then stained them. I am debating if I want to paint some bittersweet around the edges or just leave them. Maybe I'll have to purchase another set and have one of each. LOL
I'm so glad I ran across these plates this weekend, I have been searching for the perfect plates for my table for about 18 months. I have purchased pewter chargers and wasn't pleased with the look. (That's ok I now have pewter plates for the plate shelf hubby made me) I search the stores all the time for plates with no success.
The basket with the crow is something I found at the GW yesterday. It is one of many treasures I found while shopping there. Well I need to get back to the dining room, I need to clean the wood floor...**Maria the house servant isn't doing the house hold cleaning.
**Maria is a fictitious person that hubby and I talk about when the house is a mess. One of us will ask when Maria is coming to clean.

Honey do list
How many of you have a honey do list for your hubby? Does your list keep getting bigger and bigger? My husband should be finished with his probably.. oooh never!! LOL I keep adding and adding to it. Shad is such a good man he just says "sure I'll be happy to make that." Perfect example is the picture above.
You see I have another love besides my prims. I LOVE my saltwater fish. I had a small 15 gallon tank that I had a pair of nemo fish, an antenna goby and some coral in it. I would sit for hours watching the life in this tank. ( I still do this LOL) My son surprised me last March for my birthday he purchased this 75 gallon tank for me to upgrade to. The only thing was we had to drive down to Dayton to pick this up. I certainly didn't complain. The family drove the hour and a half down to pick up the tank and then drove back. Of course this tank can not sit on a store bought stand, it would just stick out like a sore thumb with all my primitive furniture. Here is where the honey do list comes in....:P
I had been researching how to make your own tank stand the week prior to picking up this tank. I had print outs and ideas written out on paper. This was important so my Shad would see that it can be done and easily at that. That very night Shad started on the stand it was finished within three days and the new tank was set up!!! This of course meant that all the furniture in the front of the house had to be moved around and I had to re-decorate and get everything to look just perfect. In fact the Santa's you see on the shelf have been moved since this picture was taken. Oh and the shelf above the tank... that was another honey do project. Yes I know I have a great husband...

Crafting bug has hit me again
Well last weekend the crafting bug has hit me again. I'm thinking the cooler it gets the more I like to sit in my warm house and create things to sell or display in my home.
Well the stacking boxes are my newest creation. I just love the fabric. I purchased it at Hobby Lobby and it is the civil war prints. I have covered each box in a different fabric. I'm still debating on what technique to use to age these or if I should age them.
The sampler on the left is one that I have made. I LOVE that sampler. I believe it is a pattern from Carriage House. I have several of her patterns and I am working on a larger one now. I'll be sure to post about it when it is finished. Don't hold your breath waiting. I will work on it then work on something else, come back to it then move to something else. I'm always doing this. I think I have 5 projects that I am working on at any given time. LOL

Tavern signs
So here I am writing my first blog. How exciting!!!
Well how do I start? Let's see. I guess I'll start with my tavern/inn signs. As you see in the picture my husband and I have recreated an inn sign. This is our third sign we have painted. I'll have to get pictures of the other two and post them.
Our interest in the tavern signs began because hubby is a home brewer. For those of you who haven't heard of that before, my hubby brews his own beer. This is where his interests and my interests cross paths. I LOVE Early American and he LOVES brewing beer. So it would only seem natural that we both would LOVE the Early American tavern/inn signs. So with his woodworking skills and my painting we started making these signs for our home and to sell.
I have several more signs lined up to be painted. I'll be sure to post pictures of them as I paint them. Thank you for taking the time to come by my little piece of the blogging community. Hope to see you back again.
Tammy
